ABOUT

My name is Evelyn Flint and I’m a UK based watercolour artist. I absolutely adore watercolour. I love the stunning colours, the transparency and how watercolours dance so beautifully together on lovely watercolour paper. My blog is documenting my journey and progress with this stunningly beautiful but challenging medium. I have learnt so much already about watercolour, but still have so much more I want to learn and master. If I can possibly inspire others to pick up a brush and begin (or continue) their own watercolour journey then that would make me very happy. 

I love the ocean, being by the sea, being on the beach and all things related. This will always be a source of inspiration for my watercolour paintings. I’m also inspired by landscapes in general, nature and the simple things of every day life.

I love colour and texture; I love experimenting with these elements. I’m irresistibly drawn to the light too – I like to have light and white space in my watercolour work. I love the “simplicity” of watercolour in the sense that all you need is paint, paper, brushes and water.

In the past I have done extensive experiments with mixed media art – collage, printing, using acrylic paints and acrylic mediums, using fabrics, oil pastels, watercolours, creating textures, erosion bundles and working in sketchbooks. But my primary focus in art now is watercolour.

I have also been a digital photography enthusiast for over 20 years. I have a Canon EOS 7d DSLR which I love; I also have a Canon Powershot SX 700 HS compact camera, which I also love. My past and present photography work is now a source of great inspiration for my watercolour paintings.
